MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Three 6 Mafia member Gangsta Boo died at age 43. Born as Lola Mitchell, the Memphis rapper was found dead on Sunday, January 1, 2023, around 4 pm. The 43-year-old's sudden death has caused an outpouring of grief on social media. Mitchell's label-mate DJ Paul K.O.M. broke the news of her death and paid his tributes in a heartfelt Instagram post showing the rapper deejaying.

Although her cause of death has not been disclosed officially, TMZ reported it as a possible drug overdose. Mitchell joined Three 6 Mafia in the 1990s and was the second female member of the Memphis hip-hop group after K-9. Mitchell went on to release various solo albums in addition to appearing on the group’s first five studio releases. However, the rapper left the group in the early 2000s to launch her own solo albums and multiple mixtapes.
